Pro Tools 11 Upgrade when You have a Student Version of 10

I bought Pro Tools 10 with a Student discount and it's supposed to come with four years of free updates... am I going to get Pro Tools 11 for free or do I have to pay for it? I am receiving conflicting information... my guys at sweetwater and guitar center have been telling me, that I will get the update to 11 for free, but I am hearing from other people I have to buy it

Check the main student related thread. You'll see a definitive statement from Avid confirming that if you are still inside the 4 years then you will get the upgrade for free.

Avid states that if you bought PT10 with 4 years of free upgrades then Avid will still honour the deal. Its only the student editions without the deal that would have to pay. and when PT11 was announced they also said that going forward they will no longer carry the 4 year deal for student editions, it will be a $99 upgrade fee. So after your 4 years ends it will cost you to upgrade
