Default Spinning BeachBall After Recording

Everytime I hit stop after recording a vocal track the beachball comes up and pro tools hangs for a few seconds. It sometimes even comes up when hitting play and pro tools will hang before playing.
I'm using an HD System with Pro Tools 6.7 OSX 10.3.5 whith on OWC Firewire 400 drive.
Any thoughts ?

Do you have Open Ended Record Allocation set to use all available space? If so, you may try to limit it.

Did you format the drive with the OSX disk utility as Mac OS Extended - not journalled?

Have you change your DAE playback buffer to something other than '2' (default)?

Just had the same thing start happening to me today. Trashed database volumes, DAE and PT prefs and repaired permissions... no more beach ball.

I've Limited record allocation to 10 minutes, and it's still happening.
The drive is formatted in OSX extended
I just switched the playback buffer from 4 to 2, so I will see what happens.
Thanks

How large is the partition you are recording to? Try dropping it below 200GB if it's above that. Also, how much RAM do you have installed?

Have you updated 6.7 with any of the CS updates? This happened to me until I updated to either CS1 or CS2.

It's one of the first generation 1.8 s that is expandable up to 8 gig of RAM. It's the only 1.8 that is supported.
