Default question about digital interface set-up

My set-up is as follows:192 Digital i/o with an AD-8000 attached to the legacy port and a Rosetta 200 attached to the second card on my HD 2 Accel rig. The problem:When I use a program such as iTunes which plays through CoreAudio, CoreAudio defaults to the 192 i/o, even if I change the output in the preferences. This is also a problem with auditioning fades or using option-click on files in the audio regions list. I know that there is nothing wrong with CoreAudio, I can see the meter activity on the 192. The work around for this is to go AES from the 192 to the 200 and to change the front panel setting on the 200 from 'option' to 'AES',but is there something else I can do?
