Default PT 12 can read PT 7 sessions?

Hi, I just bought a Pro Tools 12 (Mac). I have a lot of sessions in Pro Tools 7.6. Is there any way PT12 can read the PT 7.6 sessions? At the same time, I have 40 GB of old good sounds PT12 can't open. I'll really appreciate any help. Thanks

Yes, 12 will read the basic session file. But not all plugin settings are likely to come up since the format has changed and you're at the mercy of each Dev.

This Doc could help. As will searches here since this comes up a lot.

For example, were you using SDII files back then? You can't now.

As far as I can tell, PT 12 no longer supports the SD2 audio format. Which is crazy, since Digidesign invented it. So all my old Samplecell files are no longer recognized. Except, and this is even crazier, Logic Pro X does support SD2! I'm now using it to open my old sample files and convert them. It works very smoothly. If I were at Avid, I think I would be a bit embarrassed by this.
