Compacting ISIS MXF media question
How does the "Compact" function handle clips that are referencing MXF media on shared ISIS volumes (they come from importing AAFs from AVID). We of course don't want to modify the original media (since our Media Composers are still using it). What we are trying to do is create a smaller version of sessions to move to systems that are NOT on ISIS. If we do the "Save Session Copy" with audio we end up with a LOT of extraneous audio (and sessions are needlessly large). We COULD save session copy with audio, THEN compact, but it takes a fair amount of time. Anyone have a workflow for this?

Re: Compacting ISIS MXF media question
Create a new session and import tracks and set a handle-length in the session data import window.
This will let you chose where the new audio gets copied to and will keep your original audio untouched. You might want to test this with MXF as in the old days (PT7 etc.) PT would convert the MXF media to BWAV when doing this. Not sure if it preserves the media format now. Frank.
