While I activated my v9 licenses in my account, I haven't actually transitioned from 8 yet. My assumption is that the flash drive need not be very big since it will only hold the licenses, each of which shouldn't be much bigger than a text file.

I only have a small bundle plus a couple of extra plugins, and their is actually nothing on my USB drive.

I think Waves is simply using the unique serial number which is given to each USB drive, with the licenses themselves in "the cloud" or in a file somewhere else on your computer.

Actually, it's a pretty slick system...

I do not work for Avid (their loss)...my only relationship with Avid is that of a customer (when I'm not too poor to buy stuff, like now)...and that hot administrative assistant...that's more of a "thing" than a "relationship" (that should keep them guessing for a while...)

Just rockin'...what more is there?

Does that mean I could use my CodeMeter stick (SSL Duende) which shows up as a FAT32 drive with no free space to authorize the Waves plugins?

I WUP'd my platinum to ver 9, and the file is 14KB. I can actually see it on my USB stick. So I can't imagine you need too much space.

I've been on V9 since 30 min after release. It actually does what Waves claimed it would. I have Mercury + Studio Classics so on V8 Waves added about 1:30 onto load in time. V9 has it down to 7-10 seconds. It's insane. The controls also function alot smoother and automation seems to latch better.

It's actually a pretty good auth system too. The key file on the thumb drive is pretty small cause it's just a simple binary system that they have come up with for this version of their plugs. Less bloated than iLok and much more functional.

Unless you're moving from studio to studio or room to room. Install the authorizations on the HD. That's what I did. One less thing to worry about IMO.

I know it's an option but we image using Deploy Studio and sometimes the IT department get a bit crazy when doing full facility imaging

Plus I don't like authorization tied to the system drive, been bit to many times

you do not need a very bif thumb/flasg drive,, all it does it put a txt file on it. You can transfer the txt file as you need it.
