How to export sessions from 7.0 to flash drive and import on 8.0
I want to export a recording session done in the studio with ProTools M-Audio 7.0 to a flash drive and then import it on my home system which has the 8.0 version. I think I have to use the digi - delivery system since the export would not highlight. Also, I think I'll have to remove the plug-in's since they are all different than version I will edit with.
Is this all possible and how do I go about it? Also, I understand that all session data and related data will also have to accompany the session. I've tried this but no luck so far. |

Re: How to export sessions from 7.0 to flash drive and import on 8.0
Jus save copy in to the flash drive instead of exporting...
When u drag the session, or import it, what ever plugs u don't hav won't open of course so u will be ok; or jus drag the session to the other drive & hold shift when u click the session to be opened...

It's really that easy? Okay, I'll try it soon. This will be great if I can get it to work, I'll be able to record at the studio and edit at home.
Thanks for the help. |

Yeahppp... Jus make sure in Setup>preferences>Processing that u have "automatically Copy files on Import checked on both or all machines...
Otherwise, U will be in trubble or even a 'Mudlake'

That's good to know and you say I can leave the plug-ins? I guess I can remove them, if any after I import then change or add the plug-ins I want. Thanks for keeping me out of that murky water.

Indeed. If the plugin doesn't exist in whichever version of PT you bring a session into... it will just warn you, and then grey it out.
