Default Stick with XP or clone my Windows 7 drive?

Well my Pro Tools hard drive is going south. Silly me, I don't have a clone of the drive so I'm having to do a clean install. I'm currently running Pro Tools on a hard drive with XP (with a seperate dedicated audio drive of course), then I use a second hard drive for general computing/gaming which is Windows 7. I select which hard drive boots up by hitting f12 at startup.

Now here are my thoughts.... should I stick with XP or clone Windows 7? or maybe a clean install of Windows 7...

Are you talking about Windows 7 64 Bit? Check these forums over. A lot of complaints are about loud blasts of white noise apparently at random. Now, honestly, I haven't seen anyone saying there is (or is not) a fix yet. I haven't really gotten to check on that, but I've yet to see any news here about a fix.

If my computer would stop blue screening when I attempt to install Windows XP 32 Bit, I'd go that route ASAP. So, I'd currently say stick with XP. Unless you're using Windows 7 32 Bit. That's been working for people.

In the end, without posting a SiSandra report for others, people may not be able to offer much more help. If XP has been working for you this far, why not stick with it for a bit longer?

The white noise issue is supposed to be fixed in PT 8.0.3cs2.

But I'v never had problems with that.

Well if you're happily using Windows 7 then I'm asking you, if you're still using XP then I guess I'm not asking you. If you have an opinion about Windows 7 vs XP I'd like to hear it.

I'm good with W7 and 8.0.3/4b, but many are not. If I were looking far the fastest, safest, most trusted route, I would go with XP/SP3 with PT 8.0.1cs1 or 8.0.3cs2.
