SoundToys FilterFreak DSP usage issue
I have a ProTools HD2 system running 7.2 on a dual 2.0 Ghz Mac PPC. I recently purchased Massive Pack 5 and upgraded to the full TDM SoundToys bundle.
I have an issue that I have discoverd with FilterFreak, I am not sure if it will do the same with other plugins from the bundle. I put FilterFreak on 3 stereo auxes and when I tr to put it on a 4th, I get an error for not enough free DSP. When I pull up the system resources it shows that I have 4 chips totally free on the accel card and a few that are free and clear on the core card as well. Has anyone else out there had that problem? Any suggestions? It just strikes me as odd that I would get that error with almost half of the system resources still available. Thanks in advance |

Re: SoundToys FilterFreak DSP usage issue
I recommend running the SoundToys more recent efforts (Filter Freak, Phase Mistress, Tremolator, Crystalizer, EchoBoy) under RTAS rather than TDM. I find they're more versitile, and in general run better under RTAS than under TDM. They're more demanding on my TDM slots than I feel I'd like, and I can instantiate a whole bunch of 'em in RTAS without feeling the processor hit.
HTH, YMMV, etc. best, Rich |
