Freezing at the WRONG TIME

There have been a ton of posts about freezing in PT10.
I have experienced it when recording 4 tracks of audio for a Pod cast just as bad as recording a 24 track song.

I will do lets say click reverb send on my Piano track, it will freeze while audio is playing, then 5 seconds to so later its fine. It did it again when I went to Arm a different track.

I thought it was the computer or an unstable windows environment until I saw someone mention it but it was kinda overlooked and never addressed.

PT9 did none of this and I am concerned because if it does this at the wrong time people are going to loose information. When it freezes you can not save the file. I am making such a deal out of it because I was recording a tune yesterday and it froze after a monster solo; I couldn't hit the save it button and I almost cried. (Literally)

Is there a fix to this? Is this one of those issues Avid Tech people are working on and aware of? Are enough people experiencing this that we can possibly have them take a look at it.

I noticed some PT10 freezing this afternoon when doing simple midi edits. Had 3 wavs, one VSTi and 4 midi tracks (very small session) all of a sudden, all mouse function froze for about 3-4 seconds and then came back. Did this about 4 times in the span of a 2 hour editing session, very annoying.

If this is actually a PT bug, its pretty major, needs attention ASAP.

Wonder if it has to do with the auto save function?

We've been dealing with this in another thread. I've tried with and without auto save. I'm not seeing the freeze dissappear.

It got me today so bad I had to stop a recording session. I think until this is worked out I am going to uninstall and go back to PT 9 latest edition. I am loosing money and PT 9 was much more stable than this.

Are these clean OS installs or clones? Or are thes over the top of systems where PT9 has been previously installed?

I'm having a similar situation and mine is on a clean OS and PT10 install. I have done all of the optimizations plus a bunch of others. I will be going back to 9 in the next couple of days if we can't get this figured out.

I thought it was auto save at first because it was happening just every few minutes. I disabled auto save which didn't help. Now its worse. It happens even just during playback.

Interesting ... mine was not a clean install but i have begun the process of going back to 9 on a clean install. This is ridiculous to the 10th and I can deal with minor hangups but this is causing me to loose money. Freezing for 15 twenty seconds in playback with only 5 plug ins running. NO .. not acceptable and who wants to do a clean install after upgrading every time. That should not have to happen.

So do yourself a favor. For less than $100 you can just buy a new hard drive to do your clean install, and save your old system drive. If things don't work out, you can just remove the old drive and put the old one back in and you're running again, exactly the way you were. Do it that way.
