Default Playback Engine Problems!! SANDRA INCLUDED PLEASE HELP!!!

Ok so I've been having issues with playback since I stated working with PT about a month ago.

I thought the issue was buffer locked at 64 in my 26/26. Got that fixed.
Thought it was the bandwidth of my Firewire since I was recording to a 1TB Glyph Drive and I did not have the problem when recording the the Hard Drive so I bought a Seagate 1TB internal drive. Still getting all the cracks, hissis and pops.

I've updated to the 8.03v2.
I've deleated Prefs.
I've optimized Windows

The only way this is NOT an issue is when I record to my C: Drive. I can record the the C: Drive have it playing back fine. IF I copy the folder to either my other internal or external drive I can't get playback without hises pops and errors. the 9307 or 9703 whatever the standard "cannot process the files fast enough" is.

I bought both the Glyph and the Seagate from Sweetwater and they knew that it was to fix my playback problem in PT so there has to be something else wrong with my system. I've tired from 64 to 4000 buffer sizes and all the possible combinations withing the playback engine.

KEEP IN MIND IT PLAYS BACK FINE WHEN RECORDING TO MY REGULAR 150G Hard Drive.

I wan't to be recording to either the new 1TB Hard Drive or the 1TB Glyph Drive.

Hmm weird problem and nothings standing out.

Some thoughts.

Disable the JMicron controller in BIOS if you not using it along with the legacy ports like the serial port and parallel ports, floppy etc. This just makes it easier to troubleshoot and eliminates some potential conflicts

What are your drives set to in BIOS? IDE? RAID? AHCI?

What OS? I didn't see that listed.

The Seagate has write caching turned on and your OS drive does not. I would try disabling write caching on the Seagate. I doubt its the issue but should be checked.

Do you need all those partitions? You might copy all of you stuff over to the 1 TB external and reformat that drive as a single partition and see if it makes a difference. Make sure that its a Basic disk and not a Dynamic disk.

Last but not least there has been a issue with other P55 chipsets returning DAE 1115 errors which were solved by installing a regular old generic PCI USB card. If you have one lying around you might throw it in to try it. I realize that your having a different issue and your using MPowered with a 2626 but thought I would mention it.

Disable the unneeded stuff in BIOS first and check what mode your drives are in. Possibly update your chipset drivers by downloading the latest from Intel. Try disabling write caching. Only change one thing at a time. If your not sure what you doing in BIOS consult the manual and make some notes of what you change.

Operating System (which was only in my signature sorry) is Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3.

When I got up this morning I checked some of the stuff that you asked about (I'll have to do some studying before I get into the BIOS)
I can tell you though that the Drives are set to be RAID/IDE I'm pretty sure...

Major finding was that my new internal drive is DYNAMIC so I'm following the steps now in my Microsoft Management Console to change it to Basic

Also I have disabled write caching on the drive as you mentioned.

When comparing all the options of each Hard Drive I noticed that the "Compress drive to save disk space" is checked on the new Hard Drive and the External but not on my C: Drive. I'm thinking that might help as well.

I'll go to Intel and check for the latest Updates There as soon as I get the Hard Drive stuff done. I'm having to move all the stuff I put in there to other folders before I change from Dynamic to Basic so it will be a few minutes!
