Default Select Waves 6.1.1 Plugins Folder

Alright. I'm running MP-8 on OSX 10.5.5 / PowerPC

I haven't been having any problems until earlier this week. I removed some Waves Plug-ins that I had on trial. Now when I launch, I get a pop up asking me to locate waves 6.1.1 plugins folder. However it is a frozen window that does not allow me to navigate within it. So PT just hangs and I have to force quit at some point. I've left it running for hours this week to see if it would pop up and let me select a folder, but no dice.

I have reinstalled Waves, and I have reinstalled PT8 but I still get the same error. ;-/

I have a lot of work to do and would appreciate any help if anyone has come across this before. I am running the B&P Waves Bundle (fully licensed of course).

Waves Issue In Pro Tools 8
When launching Pro Tools, the Waves dialog "Where is the Waves Plug-Ins folder?" may pop up behind the Pro Tools splash screen and may become inactive after bringing it to the foreground.

To solve this issue:

1. Right click on Waves Plug-ins folder and make Alias
2. Rename created "Alias to Waves Plugins" (capitalization is very important) to : Waves Plugins
3. Copy alias (to clipboard)
4. Go to ~/Users/Current User/Library/Preferences/
5. Create new folder and name it Waves Preferences
6. Paste Waves Plugins alias(from clipboard) into created folder (Waves Preferences)
7. Delete alias that you created in step 2
8. Start Pro Tools

There is already a folder under my user/current user/library named Waves Preferences and it already has an alias folder named "Waves Plugins"

I followed the steps you listed for the most part- I created/copied/pasted the new alias to the existing Waves Preferences Folder- then deleted the existing one already present, then went back and deleted the alias I had just created from step two. So only the newly created alias folder was in the already existing Waves Preferences folder.

No luck.

Should I delete the existing Waves Preferences folder and all of its contents and then create a new empty one, and put the new alias folder in that?

Thanks for your help!
-Simon

just wanted to say thanks! Not often you can find instructions that lead you down a path clear and concise. It worked!
