Default Re: This may be a Win-10 Issue

So, just to report back. I was able to locate the Legacy driver mentioned in the article I posted above, install it, and now (fingers crossed) it all seems to be working as its supposed to, so I'm thinking that that was the issue all along.

In case anyone else runs into a similar issue with Firewire after upgrading to Win-10, this may be the fix.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

Fingers crossed, hopefully the legacy drivers have fixed the issue for good. (keep a copy of them handy).

I think this is going to be much more of a problem in the future, now that Microsoft has gone to a service model. When a hardware manufacturer ends support for a product, Windows 10 updates will no longer be available for a computer containing the particular piece of hardware. I don't know exactly what that means - will Windows 10 quit working on the computer, or will you just be locked to a point in time as far as Windows 10 features?

There are a number of articles about this, for example:

I really don't want to have to be a software engineer in order to just create, produce and mix music. Its hard enough to keep up with all the software changes with the music stuff, let alone have to worry about OS issues! What I'd like to see from Microsoft and Windows are different versions of the OS pre-optimized for certain applications. So you have Windows 10 optimized for business applications; one for video applications, one for audio, one for graphics, etc etc. But, I won't hold my breath on that simple idea!
