Keyboard doesn't control PT functions

My PT keyboard doesn't control PT functions, start stop ect. What could be up.

So Space Bar doesn't work... or are you referring to the Command Focus shortcuts?

Do you have any plugins open on the screen? Some of them(Toontrack for instance) will take over the keyboard until you click outside of the plugin(to re-focus the keyboard back to Pro Tools).

Does the keyboard work outside of PT?

Could you give us some system info? Laptop or desktop computer?
Does the keyboard work at all for regular computer functions?
Wired or wireless keyboard? If wired is it plugged into a working & powered up USB port? If you're on Windoze the default is to have USB ports power down after a while. That can be corrected by going into Windows Control Panel and turning off all power savings measures for the USB ports. If wireless is the battery charged? Also if wireless make sure the keyboard & computer are paired.

Benoni, no the space bar doesn't work from the avid keyboard usb connected.

The keyboard does some function on the lap top.

What is a MacBoxPro? Do you mean MacBookPro instead? If so does the laptop's own keyboard function as it should in PT?

Does the PT keyboard work normally in other programs?

Musicman . . . Mac book pro. The avid keyboard works on certain functions,enter,close window and others. Space bar does work at all.
The keyboard does control some functions on other programs.
OK sessions are loading and recording. Can only create 1 track at a time and space bar doesn't work. Lap top keyboard does work.

Being the laptop's own keyboard works okay in PT then the fault is NOT with the PT program but the so-called PT/Avid keyboard which is really nothing more than a standard Apple keyboard with different keytops to show the shortcuts. If you look at the underside of the keyboard I bet you'll see the Apple logo. PT doesn't know or care which keyboard that's being used. For clarification: does the external keyboard work okay if you use it for normal everyday functions like you would use the laptop's own keyboard? Not just some functions but for everything?
