Default How to record Redrum beat into pro tools 8

Hey!

I have programed a drum pattern using Redrum Computer (Reason 4.0)... How do i record that Redrum pattern into Pro Tools 8?

I have already rewired Reason through Protools, but unable to record the drum pattern. I can record from my midi-controller, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Heya Tryn,
Some folks may have other methods, but the way I do this is: set the output of the Instrument track that Reason is on to a stereo bus (1&2, 3&4,....whichever pair you want), then create a new stereo audio track and set the input to that track as the same output as the Reason track. Record enable the new audio track and you're ready to record your Redrum pattern to audio. You may want to lower the Reason track fader a bit to give yourself enough headroom and avoid any clipping. Hope this helps,
Reg

I think you want to use "copy pattern to track" in Reason to get the midi data on a track in the sequencer. Then I would export the midi file and import in Pro Tools, dragging it where you want it. You may be able to bounce the midi from the drum track over Rewire but I have not tried it. Rewire 2 allows you to record in Pro Tools from Reason any parameter changes on synths and FX that you have set up in Rewire. So it might be possible. Good luck.

Thanks...
I have tried it both ways and i'm still having the same problem...maybe it's in my setting.

Ok, i follow the steps and there's an actual audio recording track in PRO Tools, but no audio.

I'm not sure if it's that i'm not configuring something correctly... any advice would be greatly appreciated

Have you hit the red button on the transport as well as record enabled the track?

When you say that you have rewired Reason to Pro Tools, what exactly did you do? If you put the rewire plugin on a audio track it will not record. You have to use an Aux or Instrument track then bus to an Audio track to record. In Reason, you actually have to drag the cables on the back of the rack (TAB Key) to the right outputs for rewire to work correctly.
