Problem Initializing Hardware (DSI)
I have a serious problem with my HD3 (Pro Tools 8) and my Apple Quad-Core Intel Xeon (OSX 10.5.7.).
During three days I have checked several Hardware-Settings. Here is a detailed report of what I found out so far: http://docs.google.com/View?id=dgfmq8ds_27kxjx6ddp Thanks for helping ... Stanley |

I read the information and i didn't see any mention of you completely removing pro tools and re-installing? or a fresh install of the operating system to eliminate corrupted files!! If you haven't already i would completely start again! Re-install Leopard and select the option to wipe the drive when installing. (this is done by using the disk utility during the beginning of the install for operating system) then use the "combo updater" to install 10.5.6 Then install PT8, then install cs3. To help eliminate all potential problems: install only the core card and one interface at this stage!!! Now see how its running! Keep working with this configuration till you can get everything booting and running ok! then introduce the accel cards and see how it runs. The CPU overload messages are probably NOT connected to your main problem with the boot-up. These CPU error messages are usually caused by RTAS VI's that require a lot of RTAS processing power and cause these error messages? this is a separate and complicated issue and whould be dealt with after you have got your system stable. Re: Problem Initializing Hardware (DSI)
I started getting the same problem with P Tools not being able to initialize the hardware. I finally got around to running Digitest and found that one of the Accel cards was reporting repeated errors, a different one every time. I sent the card into Digi and they said that is was so far gone that they couldn't even repair it. They sent me a brand new one and the problem is totally solved. The system, Mac pro 2.8 8 core, Magma PE6R4 running P Tools 8 cs3 is now rock solid.
As crizdee has suggested you can start out by running one card to see if the problem goes away. You should also run Digitest to get as much info as you can. |
