Default 4,1 cheesegrater with thunderbolt?

Still clinging to my 002r running pt12.4 on ml10.8.5. Wondering if I flashed my mp to 5,1...if I could then install tb to run a current Apollo? I'm gonna guess probably not? Any help is appreciated. It's a late 2009 dual 3.2 with 30gigs ram

No.

There is a hack that kind of works, but it’s finicky and I wouldn’t rely on it considering the audio interface is the hub of your studio.

Essentially, if a Mac doesn’t have TB natively, you can’t add it after the fact.

I don't know about the 4,1, but it's been done with the 5,1. Production Expert did an article about it.

And if you read the article, you’ll realise that it’s not as simple as plugging in a USB PCI-E card and having native support.

Again, I wouldn’t rely on it for mission critical stuff like audio interfaces. You’re just asking for trouble.

IIRC isn't part of the procedure where you have to boot in to Windows? That alone would put me off of it.
