Default stereo/mono -- NPR reporter needs your help (again)

hi folks,

the last time i posted here, i got excellent advice, so i'm crossing my fingers for a repeat! :)

i recorded a call on Skype and it created a stereo track, where one side has all this static on it, and the side with my subject sounds perfect (thank god). i want to remove the bad side, and keep the good side.

the only problem is that the "Split into Mono" option under Track is greyed out!

what should i do?

i'm running Pro Tools 7.1 on Windows XP.

thanks very much for any help!

Did you highlight the region first before you tried to split?

Not at my studio but you can always send to a stereo buss and make a new mono audio track and select one side of the buss as your input.

Though, split to mono should work...

thanks RRRS - yes, i did highlight the track.

as for the other option you mention...i've never tried such a thing and am not quite sure what you're referring to! would you be able to elaborate?

thanks again!

not sure why you can't split into mono if a stereo track is selected.

you could just create a new mono track and drag the good channel from the region bin onto that track.

stonehenge -- thank you! dragging the desired channel from the region window did it. of course it was glaringly simple. :)

thanks again to all the folks who participate in these forums...they are so great.
