what happens if a swap out the mbox3 mini?

My mini hardware is failing. I want to buy a focusrite scarlett gen3 18i8 box. What do I need from avid to make it work? I will probably need a new driver, which is free, but is that all I need? ilok? software? currently have 12.7

You dont need anything from Avid as the core audio drivers will be free from the interface manufacturer.

Just toss the avid mini and get a modern way better interface and install the drivers that the interface is provided with and choose the interface in settings in PT and make sweet music

Since PT9 and up Avid decoupled any hardware needs from the software and we are free to use any supported interfaces we wish to use. Make sure the interface you buy is compatible with your computer OS and you should be good.

Thanks for the reply. The tone was never good with the mini, and the scarletts sound like they are really good. I will make some beautiful music!!
