AMIII Card problem
Just installed an AMIII card and PTLE 5.1.1 on a new G4 1.25GHz Dual-boot running OS9.2.2. PTLE produces an error message on launching: 'Pro Tools hardware is either not installed or used by another Program'. DigiTest appears to fail the card but always does a Type 12 exit at the end of the test so I don't get an error report.
It may be the card is actually faulty but I won't be able to get my hands on another card for a few days. Does anyone know of any other possible explanation? |

Re: AMIII Card problem
The first thing you should do is check the rev on the AMIII card to make sure it is G4 compatible:
http://www.digidesign.com/compato/amiii.html Then you should check to make sure you have version 5.1.1 of the Digisystem INIT (DSI) and the DAE application. Check your memory allocation for DAE and Pro Tools, and see if you can give them more memory. (don't change the minimum, just the preferred) Here are some suggestions: http://answerbase.digidesign.com/detail.cfm?DID=4417 Going with the minimum Pro Tools extensions set may help eliminate any extensions from other programs that are causing the problem. I have my doubts that any of the below are the right answer, but here are some things to try... Here are a couple of Answerbase items: http://answerbase.digidesign.com/detail.cfm?DID=8038 http://answerbase.digidesign.com/detail.cfm?DID=5443 Two things you might try from the Downloads section: Apple Multi-Processor Fix http://www.digidesign.com/download/mp/ DigiTest 5.1.3cs6: http://www.digidesign.com/download/digitest/ which added recognition of your computer, although I don't know if it also recognizes AMIII cards in addition to TDM cards. It won't fix the problem necessarily, but it might not crash on you. You may want to try your AMIII card in a different slot. I'm not tech support, just throwing a few suggestions out. You may want to call TS in the morning if no solution works for you so they can do troubleshooting with you.

Re: AMIII Card problem
Thanks for all this - I'll work my way through it all. The AMIII board is rev QE s/n BK40583 so should be fine.
I did all the settings as specified in the PTLE manual, although I haven't adjusted memory requirements as yet. I'll let you know how I get on. |

Re: AMIII Card problem
The AMIII card was faulty! With a replacement installed all seems to be working fine. DigiTest 5.1.1 is fine on the G4 1.25GHz under OS9
