PT 9 and latest 13" MBP
Does anyone know why the latest 13" MacBook Pro is not compatible with PT 9? According to the Avid Compatability, it only works with 15",17" and older version of 13" MBP with "penryn" processors. Is Avid updating to make it compatible with 13" i5 or i7 processors?

Re: PT 9 and latest 13" MBP
You are confusing "Avid approved" (aka "certified" or "qualified" computers) and whether a configuration will work. Nowhere does Avid say "it only works with 15",17" ....". Clearly there are many, many i3 and 5 based iMacs and MacBook Pros running Pro Tools 9. Avid simply cannot keep up with all configurations and have clearly lagged behind here.
The question you likely want to ask is -- just are folks here running Pro Tools on that MBP OK? The real issue you'll have is Mac OS X version support. You can search here for lots of threads on 10.6.8 and Lion. Also make sure you have to MBP configured and optimized properly for Pro Tools, especially with the use of at least a second (in this case usually external) disk drive for sessions. Darryl |
