Default inputs, outputs, cables..oh my.

So, Im trying to route a presonus eureka into my lovely mbox 2. I have several choices..spdif, xlr and trs..my question is..which input would serve to sound the best? I have the so called "high quality" a/d card installed into the eureka which served me well when I used to use the presonus firebox because the inputs were so "flat"(but not in a good way)..and it would serve well this time too..because it would leave the other inputs open for business. I was curious how you guys felt about this preamp..and it's a/d conversion card... What is a "trs" cable? Is it the same as a 1/4 inch guitar cable? Or, is it the balanced version of it I use for the output of my monitors? Also, I noticed that the inputs seem super hot when I run my eureka in them..and when I pad it..it just sounds dull..any advice would be great, thanks!

TRS = Balanced 1/4" analog cable. Definitely different than a standard guitar cable, but not much different from a standard XLR. TRS Connector

Since your preamp already has A/D conversion, you'd probably want to run it into your Mbox 2 via S/PDIF.

Only thing to remember is; if you go in via SPDIF, the MIX knob may have no affect and you will need to work at small buffer settings and monitor thru protools(no direct monitoring of the input). As said, the TRS connector is a balanced connector(except on headphones and those TRS to dual mono insert cables). I agree that SPDIF should sound the best.
