Default Walk me thru multiple PT version installs

So.... I read the posts about different versions on the same mac. Rename the old one a different name. And then install new version of protools. What about the plugins? Just don't bother installing any? Or deleting any? I'm specifically wanting to keep 12.6.1 and install the now current 12.7.1.
Is it as simple as renaming pt12.6.1 to "old protools"

I also need to upgrade sierra to 10.12.3 from 10.12.1. But that's another issue.

Just add the version number to the end of the name. Everything else will be shared. Keep in mind this is unsupported behavior and not possible on PC.

The only place I use it is on my "legacy" partition where I want to be able to run 11 and 10 together.

For all 12 partitions, I simply re-run the installer if I want to go back one version.

So one last question about this. I don't have to bother about plugins? It just stays the same between 12.6.1 and 12.7.1? Switching back and forth even if I reinstall 12.6.1 over 12.7.1?
