Default Custom Key Commands - broken?

Pro Tools is very limited and restricted regarding Key Commands (Keyboard Shortcuts) compared to other apps like Logic Pro X or Final Cut Pro X.
I saw posts that show that it is possible to use the OSX System Preferences to assign custom Shortcut to Pro Tools. I use that feature with other apps and it works, but not with tPro Tools
Better Touch Tool also provides such a feature, but again it doesn't work with PT 12.6.
Is that functionality removed/broken or do I miss something here?

I use USB Overdrive on Sierra OS with my Logitech pc keyboard but on a MAC but I'm running 12.5.2 My main shortcut is the context key switches the edit and mix window for me. I grew to appreciate much of Pro Tools default shortcuts. It's easier to remember them.

imho, pro tools is something YOU learn .. so that everyone learns the same way .. Apple Products and other DAW's have Key Commands you can adjust .. but when the next person comes in if they do not have their own commands they are in a Quandary ... they have no idea what you have programmed ..

pretty simple ... more people need to use PT at work ... in facilities ... so everyone needs the same tools and an easy way to work ..

cheers john

Keyboard Maestro - works great, actively developed, very powerful.

Which menu commands are you referring to? As far as I know, they custom Mac Menu Keyboard Shortcut system is working fine. There are some commands which are not supported well under this system, (the new playlist commands, commands which have a default keyboard binding that include a number from the number pad)

You think of an "either - or" situation when it comes to Key Commands, but that is not the case. You can have both worlds living next to each other. The magic word is Key Command Presets.

You can work on your machine and customize the Key Commands the strangest way. When someone comes into your studio to work on your computer, you just load the default Key Command Preset, and everything is fine.
Even in a big for rent facility. You can load the default Key Command Preset and you are familiar like any other guy, or you can bring your crazy Key Command Preset on a USB stick , load it up and be as fast as you can or used to.

Unfortunately, Avid never understood the concept that not every user works the same and won't allow any modification of the Key Commands. Maybe they have an agreement with those companies that sell those colorful keyboards with the printed Key Command labels. If everybody uses their own set, then I guess they are out of business.

I always used QuicKeys way before the OSX days, but now I'm finally give up on that company and moved most of my Key Commands to BetterTouchTools( BTT) which I used mainly for all the gestures with my trackpad. This is one of my "can't live without it" apps and it worked fine for key commands in other apps, but there is something in Pro Tools that doesn't work well.
Now, I some commands (i.e. Window ➤ Color Palette) work, but most of the others don't.

The OSX System Preferences Key Command configuration now works. The active (non-functional) BTT commands did block it.

Exactly!...and it's not rocket science:

Unfortunately, those highly opposed with that age old justification just don't "get it"...even when the obvious solution is clearly demonstrated.
