Default ilok trouble / PT question

My ilok suddenly was not recognized by pro tools & I contacted ilok.com who told me to send it in for an RMA, which I did. Since I now cannot open PT9 for the next two weeks, is there any way to revert back to PT8 LE. I initially had PT8 LE & did the crossgrade to PT9, so is it possible for me to go back to PT8 while this is being fixed?

Sure. Uninstall PT and reinstall version 8.

If you've been studious and made clones before you upgraded, it's done in a matter of minutes. Then, when your new iLok comes back you can reinstall your PT9 image. Easy peasy.

If you haven't made clones/images, you're in for a bit of work. You'll likely have to get your auth number for 8 from your My Digi account.. (is it my avid now?).. Oh well.

Clone/image is your friend.

Ok thanks a lot for the reply.

So if I get the auth code & reinstall PT8, do I have to do the crossgrade again & get another license for PT9?

No.

You still have the PT9 license in your iLok account. The iLok you get back may have it already installed or you'll have to log into iLok.com and resync your licenses with the new iLok. But you won't pay for an additional upgrade.
