Again, exact details of what happens is essential.

Have you tried the basic troubleshooting, i.e eliminating potential plugin-trouble, quitting all other applications and such? What's your audio interface; has it a compatible driver? Is it supported?

Your MBP should be very able and stable to run PT2020.5 on Catalina, even if it's not the most powerful. I don't think PT is the problem. It's something else, I think.
