Default Uses for Behringer BCF2000 control surface in PTLE

I've had my 002R system up and running on an Allenstein for a few weeks now. It's one powerful recording tool but frankly, I work on PCs all day and therefore have no desire to come home and spend several more hours fiddling with a mouse - cordless or not, we humans aren't meant to be assuming one position for hours on end.

So, I need a control surface....can't afford a Command8, and would rather spend $440 AU dollars on the Behringer BCF2000 than over $1000 on a Mackie Baby HUI or CM Labs Motormix. BUT, I want to be able to use the control surface for the most common functions that I presently carry out with the mouse.

I've heard that the BCF2000 will allow me to control faders and transport functions without having to use the mouse. Anyone know if I can also work with plugins directly from the BCF2000?? Any other stuff I can use it for?

Thanks people.

Pretty sure it will control transport and fader/pan but I don't think it does plugin control.

Here's a link to a post where someone wrote how they got that controller working Controller . It works with HUI emulation I believe (the HUI driver installs with 6.7 I think) and you have to download the latest firmware from behringer's website.

Thanks for the link. I read somewhere (I can't find it anymore) that the pre-installed HUI driver is the main reason why the BCF2000 wan't work on the 6.7 as there is no way to use third party drivers

All the people who have 6.4 don't have any problems using it but I found this link where Edwin (using 6.7) says the following: "It only talks to PT in baby hui mode and only through physical MIDI ports (ie, not USB)".

That would mean that it wouldn't work for as I only have MBox

I just hope this is not true...

Here's some more links I found searching this forum:
USB/Midi
more BCF 2000 via USB

In this one the user says they have it working with an m-box. Maybe try contacting them.

Good luck!

Thank you very much! The help was really needed. Using the search function I found the thread I was looking for. The problem doesn't seem to be BCF related, instead it's looks like a bug in the 6.7 conserning MIDI OUT to third party hardware. Go figure

Now I know that I won't be updating to 6.7 until that is fixed.

PS. Tubthumper, I'm sorry that I "loaned" your thread. I will answer your question when I get the machine and have it up and running.
