Darryl, Thanks for showing me there's yet another piece of Pro Tools I've never actually noticed all this time....!

I've checked and unfortunately, it's set to 0 on my native system at the moment. Is this a global setting (I assume it is) or session-by-session?

It's a preferences, so for that user/system not per session.

But now just in case it's something messed up in preferences, I would trash them again anyhow, even if you've done that before.

Darryl, thanks - as ever, you were right to advise me to trash the preferences. It's fine now.

By the way, in case anyone was wondering why I cared about this since the HDX system I record on didn't have the problem, it's because I'm building a recording booth in my house (who'd have thought?) to record audiobooks from home, and whilst I'm buried under rockwool and acoustic sealant I thought I should check that my Pro Tools system (currently only used for mixing music) is actually match-fit as it were. It ought to be, it's ludicrously over-specified for what is basically one-track recording with almost no plugins. And thanks to your help, it is now.
