"You're an old AMS guy as well, right?" With yet another birthday approaching I prefer 'former' AMS guy, but yes! To answer Marti's question; Colin's original concept was for a cost-effective, robust, random access picture source for DAWs. His P2DVD interface makes the DVD look like a VTR; you should make it the master in a machine control environment since it can't be servo'ed. I'd say it's an improvement on a Fuze card (no disrespect) in terms of picture quality and sync consistency. For our use we want the DVD to chase LTC and the lack of the DVD's ability to servo is a slight issue. The P2DVD can be tricked into working this way. However Colin is making a P2DVD Mk2 which has features that are more suited to our needs; I should see the first one next week. Wes Dooley is Colin's representative over here, I'm sure he could arrange a demo. |
