Shortcuts not working

I often encounter some PT 6.4 shortcuts not working. For instance I'm typing command-8 to show beat detective and nothing happens. Also command-1,2,3,4,5 does not do the functions as shown in the "windows" pull down menu -these commands do different functions. Thanks for help.

Are you pressing the number keys on the Numeric Pad, or the ones over the alpha keys? If the different functions are switching tools, you need to move your hand to the NumPad and then try the shortcut again with those number. If you are hitting the NumPad keys and it ain't working, then I'm clueless besides a system reboot.

This is a bug that I experience all the time. I used to quit Pro Tools and open the session again but that is so time consuming I searched for other workarounds.

Here's the quick one: when the bug appears do a command+tab which will take you to another open program or the finder. Then do it again to get back in Pro Tools, you should have your short cuts back now.

I also experience this error all the time, usually just in the edit window. Try this: Close the edit window, then reopen by pressing Command= or by going to Window->Show Edit. This usually gets the shortcuts working again.
