Default Pro Tools 9 Announced Today

So if you haven't heard, PT9 was announced today, in fact its already in the Avid Store

http://shop.avid.com/store/category....s-upgrades-new

What does this mean for Eleven Rack, any updates on the way?? now PT9 does not require Avid hardware. this could expand the possibilities of using the 11R with another interface.

i have the video of the announcement which i'll post tomorrow after i edit it and shrink it down, unless avid slaps it up on Youtube before i get a chance.

all in all, PT9 looks sweet.

But what's in store for all us poor users who don't want to pay or can't afford the PT9 $250 crossgrade offer. I can't at the moment, is there a PT9 LE edition in the works for us?

I knew I shouldn't have bought that T-Rex pedal the other week .

"It's a game changer".

For ProTools I suppose. I was running DP4 without an expensive HW dongle with auto delay compensation in 2004.

i'm actually pretty psyched about this. Coming from Ableton Live, I got PT 8, learned it, as well as it's limitations. I tried a bunch of other DAW's. (Reaper, Logic, to name some) Realized that nothing offered me the workflow that i was used to or that i liked like in PT, (and also Ableton) and said to myself, F--K IT! I'll bite the bullet and stick with what i know.

Now i'm more confident in the future of PT and my continued use of it. And i believe Avid is making great steps in securing itself as king of the DAW world.

My question for Avid guitar division is this:

As well as PT 9's compatibility with other interfaces, we also have the 3rd gen MBoxes which are compatible with all major DAWs. In the future, will we see new drivers (a la MBox) that provide better integration of the Eleven Rack in other DAWs as well? Also, will Eleven Rack users finally see a standalone editor for the unit, just like the new MBoxes?

As Benoni said, i am also curious to see how Eleven Rack will interact with other interfaces in the future.

Man, i'm feeling a little man-wet here. I could go on and on with questions, but i'm gonna leave it at that for now. I can't wait to jump into PT 9!

Thanks for the heads up, Benoni.

I think these improvements answer a lot of the criticisms of PTs. I am curious as to what impact this may have on the 11R.

Yes, definitely. Hopefully in the next few days/week or so...
