Default Brand New Computer/Pro Tools Issue

Hello everyone!
I just built my very first computer strictly to be my computer in the studio. I'm having a really annoying issue that I've never had before. On Pro Tools during playback, every once in a while it will just stop playback altogether, pause for the briefest moment, and then I'll hear the tail of all the reverbs. Once I hear the tail of reverbs, I can hit play again and it functions just fine. The problem can happen once in an hour, or once a minute, and it's the biggest inconvenience while I'm tracking vocals. (It's cut off right in the middle of a great take etc.) Iv'e done the Windows optimizing and downloaded all of the drivers from the avid website, and I am truly stumped to what the problem could be, so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Using a Tascam DM-4800 as my playback engine and control surface

Default Re: Brand New Computer/Pro Tools Issue

Very unlikely Pro Tools will just decide to do this.

Since the TASCAM control surface could send HUI Transport commands that is the natural suspect. Or maybe a faulty computer keyboard sending a space key...

I expect the decay you hear are the plugins working as expected.

What troubleshooting have you done?

I would try....

Trash prefs.

Grab a utility that shows/logs what keys are pressed and see if a space key event is being sent. Grab a mini monitoring utility and do the same... I have no idea what connection carries the MIDI in you setup or what monitoring tool would work best. But probably the easiest way to troubleshoot this is just deconfigure the HUI in Pro Tools and see if this problem stops.

Simplify everything. Disconnect every peripheral or control surface you can. Move all plugins out of the plugin folder and try to reproduce this....

Still happening? .... anything unusual in the Pro Tools log or the Windows event log?
