Default video issues 2018 HD

I have to get in touch with avid. I'm running 2018.1 HD and I'm having video playback issues. when I 1st open a project video playback is fine shortly thereafter playback gets jerky and sluggish, can't judge sync at all. I'm going to verify this is not happening in 12.8.3 or 12.8.1 shortly.

Anyone else?

Sorry for the late reply but Cryos is not alone... I've had so many problems with PT 2018.1 - PT2018.4 and video using authorized codec's DNxHD, and ProRes. All are intermittently jerky, they sometimes freeze, and sometimes goes black. It happens in both the video window as well as the BlackMagic card. I feel too much energy is being put into midi when logic and performer are the app of choice and not enough into Post production issues. I've had ongoing cases with Tech for months and it seems that since it's intermittent that it's "My Computer" an not pro tools. I have been able to highlight 2 clips and recreate the freeze but tech support doesn't know what is wrong.

I've had other graphic issues with creating fades while playing and more.

I have a late 2013 Mac 6 core, 40 gig of ram in the using sierra and an HDX system.

Can anyone shed some light on this???? Tech support???? Programmers?

Here is a test video to help debug sync problems with DAW video playback. Each frame of the video displays the performance time stamp (pts) of the frame in milliseconds. Compare the displayed time with the transport time shown in the DAW.

I have to say that 2018.3 HD has been the most stable over all for both Video and Audio for ages.

My experience with BMD resulted in reverting to a second HDMI out of the Mac. HD ProRes Proxy is the codec we always use.

I have the same problem with Pro Tools HD 2018.4
Anyone found an answer?
I'm working on a new IMac Pro with a Radeon Pro Vega 56 as a graphic card.

no, I'm using 2018.4... have I to install the 2018.3?
I've installed the 2018.4 because the 2018.3 gave some problems with Krotos Dehumaniser

Hi..

Thank you SantanaFan for the video. I followed all instructions and it seems that all is good. Less than 40 ms at key frames.

What I did find is that there is a video codec that is being used to output for use on youtube and other streaming sites. Pro tools doesn't like this file because the codec is specifically for playing (streaming) not for start and stop in a dubbing session.

I had the client have the video editors re-output with a h264 codec and the problem went away. I will be doing more testing and add the results with DNxHD.

Thanks all
