Thumbs up Re: M-Powered 8.0 on Windows 7?

You will need to download the 8.03 & 8.05 updates from the Avid website as these add Win 7 capability. Make sure all your drivers are up to date, and make sure you do the Avid recommended optimisations as well. I have had no problems running 8.05 under Win 7 Ultimate.

I have a laptop with 7 Home Premium, when I put the software disc in the install wizard starts loading then freezes. Do you have use "XP Mode" with 7 ultimate? My version doesn't have that. What am i doing wrong?

Make sure that your Ilok and audio interface are not connected. The drivers for the audio interface should not be installed until after Protools installation. If you have them installed, remove them before proceeding with the PT install. PT MP8 is qualified by Avid to run on Win 7 Home premium with or without SP1 with the 8.05 update which adds Win 7 functionality. You do not need an XP mode for installing. Also make sure that any antivirus software is turned off.

My computer keeps saying it can't find an installed copy even though I can record with it. How do you update if it doesn't see your product?

What version of Pro Tools do you have installed on your computer? If it is Pro Tools M-Powered Essential then you can only go to 8.0.3.
