Default ProTools & 3rd Party Audio Input?

Is there any version of protools that will allow the use of 3rd party audio input/output, or is digi hardware a must to run any version of protools?

Also, are the midi features or the lack of them, the same for all protools systems? "ie" Does the Mbox/PT le, have the same midi features as the PT HD system?

Thanks

Default Re: ProTools & 3rd Party Audio Input?

Digi hardware is a must to run any version of ProTools except ProTools Free (uses Apple Sound Manager). I believe the Midi features are pretty much the same in all versions.
