Default Re: PT 12.8.3 - last version for Win 7 Support!?!

Any luck with 2019.5 on Win 7?

2018.12 worked like a charm as long as I didn't do a clean install... then I would get an OS is not sufficient type of error.

Installing 2019.5 worked well but did'nt liked asio4all, doesn't like mbox2 and digi002 so far.

When opening a session or creating a session I get this error...
Could not create a new document because Access violation occurred, unable to read location: 0x00000000000002E8.

This on all my drives, even the OS drive... so it's not drive related.
Trashed prefs didn't help either, the only thing I can think of ATM is that PT 10 is also still installed but can't uninstall it separately so far.

As we all know "Not compatible" usually means not tested, and they all say this since MS dropped the win 7 support.

Peace!

The documentation said something about issues with PT 10 co -installation, so i suggest you read all those files first. As of right now i have 2019 running on both laptops with Win7 Home exactly the same as 2108.10(NO ASIO4all) and am currently installing 19 on the desktop system With Win7Ultimate/Professional(after backing up of course)and expect i will find it works like 18.10(fingers crossed)has been, at the least, and better if i'm lucky.

I read that too, uninstalling PT 10 didn't help the issue.
It loads very smooth though but opening a session gives again the same error when loading is near complete.

Could not complete your request because Access violation occurred, unable to read location: 0x00000000000002E8.

Let me know if you get it to work on the desktop...

Two hours on desktop, one 9173 that popped up immediately on first session turned out to be playback engine buffer setting that got changed to non supported size when i updated the driver prior to updating PT. The font seems a little different to me but everything works fine. I did notice a bigger spread in core use. Anyway, good as gold so far.

It took another day and a half or so but I finally managed to make it work on Win 7.
Clean install gave me the OS is insufficient error again so I removed PT and installed 2018.3 again. I couldn't even open that one, then added 2019.5 on top of it. This time it gave me a QuickTime app error so I installed media composer once again and updated the Codec LE. Then trashed the prefs and InstalledAAXPlugIns list. This time PT crashed while compiling the InstalledAAXPlugIns list. Copying the InstalledAAXPlugIns file from a backup made PT load and I could finally open and/or create a new session.

Up and running again. Pfew!

Cheers!
