Hey Folks,

This thread is so old there is no reason to read all of it. So forgive me if I step out of bounds here.

The Express 34 is no longer available in MBP 15 inch portable. Also. If you have the new 17 in MBP. Report if TI firewire is present. Please.

dpclat.exe is a non-privileged app you could run off a thumb drive. Just under 1000us stock - non tweaked is generally ok for clean DAW work. Tweakheads. Start with the Broadcom NIC card apparently this may cause spikes as does wifi (turn off in device mgr) as well as Bluetooth advertisements. Video camera also a spiker.

Here's a chart a tweaktown to peruse interrupts which cause clicks and pops download dpclat.exe at post # 2
http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/dpc-...x58-ud5-30547/

good hunting.

PelicanWord, this laptop of yours, HP dv6-2170us 15.6, do you use a firewire device or usb?
I myself have a HP dv 6 1101so with W7 and PTLE 8.0.3 cs1 works fine
with usb but with my 002r I have some issues. It has not a TI firewire card
so I guess that's the problem.

If that's the i5 HP DV6, unless production has changed. It's a Ricoh chipset. I just checked device mgr. Download RicohProToolsEnabler.exe (from Digi's site) Sony i5 also a Ricoh. Unfortunately the fleabag (me) attempted to check the new MBP 17 inch also but no information present in system profiler but Firewire 800. They have been known to abandon TI also. This was at a store with no admin privileges. I have never seen device mgr lame like this. No drop downs arrows. Nada. It also appears Lenovo has removed their firewire port. End of story. Everyone. Download THESYCON's dpclat.pdf and dpclat.exe time to a' start tweaking.

What do you guys think about this baby? Huge power, has expresscard slot, so it is able to get a 3rd party firewire card.

padraic, I have a DELL XPS 1340 (Studio 13 XPS) and although I'm new to PT 8 and the MBOX2, I already have it installed on a custom desktop. I will be installing on my XPS within a few days and will let you know how it performs. Should be good, but we'll see. eSATA and 1394 built in, kind of nice.

Hi! Recently purchased the HP Probook 4520s and I got PT working on it I have not had the time to do a Dverb-test on it yet, but I can tell you that it worked better under W7 than XP.

I have the old Mbox and PT 8.0.1 and only disabled the networks in W7 so there was a ton of HP pre-installed crap running at the same time and I used an external USB-disc!!? I did get some error-messages after about a minute when recording 16 channels @256 but I think this was because I recorded to USB..

I will primarily use it to edit so I don't mind that for now, playback was fine of a session with 20+ tracks @ 256 buffer.. I had to bump it up to at least 512 sometimes 1024 in XP.

This laptop doesn't have any fw but I will get a expresscard and try it out more to see if it improves anything in both W7 and XP.

I've been trolling the DUC for a while now to try and come to a determination on a good top of the line i7 laptop to purchase so I could run the current version of Pro Tools (8.03) with a 002 on a windows 7 64 bit system. I have my eye on a Sony VPCF114FX/H which is sold at Best Buy.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Sony+-+V...&skuId=9724544

I'm questioning the video card which is a
NVIDIA GeForce 310M GPU

From what I'm gathering a NVIDIA card is probably going to cause me problems from what I have read.

Is anyone successfully running this laptop out there with PT?

I cannot get my primary desktop, a Gateway LX series QuadCore running win 7 64 bit ultimate to run pro tools 8.03 and I have given up. I tried everything and have just come to the conclusion it is a wrong chipset and it won't work.
