Hi all,

I have been following this thread for some time, but this is my first post here.
After a long search, I have come down to 2 machines:

The Gateway at Best Buy for 1549 USD:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1109938021195

and a customized Digital Audio Wave with same processor as Gateway but with 17´display, 7200 rpm hard disk for 2379 USD:
http://www.digitalaudiowave.com/inde...ROD&ProdID=376

My question is:

Is the performance I´ll get with the customized model be worth the extra 700 USD ?

Is anyone getting these Davec results w/ a Digi 002R? How stable are these systems?

Thanks,
Eric

Yes these laptops are achieving similar results as the AMD 64 3400 desktops or better. Stability is the same.

You will be using the same chipset and processor so I don't know why it would be any different. Hard drive performance can be changed with a quick swap if needed.

Default Digi002 with Intel 915GM Express Chipsets

Hi to all,
I'm using for about 1 month an Mbox with my Acer Aspire 1692.

Unfortunately my chiset is unsupported by Mbox. Don't worry, a friend rent me the sound card, I don't have bought it.

My question is if also you know if Digi002 or Digi002 rack give problems with this laptop?
I like very much pro tools and the mbox sound.
On my desktop I use a Creamware Luna, and it seems that Mbox sounds better.

It is a bit limitated because doesn't have MIDI ports and only two outputs and inputs ports.

thanx
best regards
dm

Digi hardware is pretty fussy about chipsets. If you couldn't get MBox running, likely an OO2 also wouldn't run. One thing you could try is a powered USB hub. Some 915 chipsets did not meet the USB power specs.

Hey Guys, Im posting this here in hopes I can get some suggestions, Please take a look at my specs below, basically I am going home to visit some of my old bandmates and I want to be able to record some tracks there. I called my friend at GCPro here in Florida and the will rent me an 002R to take with me. I need to get a Laptop and small 4 space soft rack so I can put my Rosetta 800 and digi 002r as well as either the great river or the Digimax preamp. I want to be able to carry the rack and the Laptop on the plane as well as some cables and two microphones. Anybody traveled like this lately? Any problems? I was thinking of going to Best Buy to get the Allenstein recomended Gateway Laptop, Anybody have suggestions on the Laptop? Any help here will be much appreciated.

Thanks, Tracy Lowery

1. question which benchmark would be best to determine the best processor for an laptop/mbox combination.

2. any thought on the dual core processors that will start entering laptops in the next year?
