Default 9.0.3 upgrade is a BUST

None of my songs are playing after the 9.0.3 upgrade.
I am using ProTools in conjunction with an ElvenRack running the latest Expansion Pack software.

Symptom is that the song loads but does not play at all...

HELP!!!

WOW! That fixed it! Thank you! You are a genius!!!

Why is this not mentioned in the release notes or the files not deleted during install???

Because it might not have happened while they tested it.

Should I update my pro tools software to 9.0.3? I'm hesitant because of the problem you guys are reporting.

Two people have reported a problem, while thousands (including me) have not encountered any issues. Also, this thread includes the (simple) answer to the problem.
I'd say you are safe to go for it.
The thing about looking at the forums to check out how a new release works is that you have to keep things in perspective. People are far more likely to post on the internet to complain about their problems than they are to post about their lack of problems. If you look hard enough, you'll probably find posts about virtually any release of any piece of software being broken. Unless there are some reproducible bugs it doesn't usually really mean much.

I had issues with both the 10.6.8 OS X update and the 9.0.3 and both were solved by simply trashing the prefs and deleting the databases. If you are having any problems after updating, perform those simple tasks before blowing away your installation and starting again.

It should be, BUT this procedure should be part of your regular maintenance, regardless of updates. It fixes a lot of issues that creep up over time. ff

Rules of thumbs about updates.

If your system is stable, and you don't have bugs that are annoying you. Then don't upset the balance by bringing in an update. Unless the update brings something that you absolutely need.
