Default 10K+ RPM External Hard Drives?

I'll be running PT8 on my system drive, and my vst's on a second internal drive

Just wondering what format audio write drives I should purchase:

-external (firewire)

-internal

Any issues with 10 or 15k rpm drives?

Should my internals be 10K+ for the vst drive? I'll be running BFD2 & Omnisphere, etc. on it.

Thanks
