A KVM is a good idea. . .

I wonder if I can get part of the same functionality using the Dell 24" without the KVM. . .I have a Mac and PC now sharing a 21" CRT Monitor and the monitor itself has 2 VGA inputs and a switch. . . I see the Dell has a DVI and VGA input. . . I know nothing of the DVI standards. . . so I wonder if the DVI input is Mac G4 (MDD) compatiable? or do we have to go analog VGA with the 15pin d sub? I would be great to plug my PC into the 15 Pin D-Sub and the Mac into the DVI input and just use a switch on the monitor to change between computer video. . . comments?
The Dell 2405 works fine on a G4 MDD with the DVI cable, that is what I am using (forgot to mention
in my earlier post), and its easy to switch input to VGA from the front panel.

A Good place to look for monitors is MicroCenter, pricewatch or newegg . A good place to get electronics reviews & pricing is CNET
The kvm I have used flawlessly for about 3+ yrs. with my mdd mac, a self built pc, an old gateway computer to my Amek, connected to 2 Sony 19" flat monitors is the 4 way belkin soho. It is so attractive clients always ask what it is when they first see it w/ my lite up keyboard ..... Only thing it dosen't have is shortcuts to swith between computers from the keyboard.

Hi Guys,

I heartly recommend the KVM switch made by Marathon computer. It racks up and works great. You need to punch the buttons to switch and some people like to be able to switch from their keyboard. Nevertheless - I have TONS of gear and great guitars, etc. But every engineer flips for my KVM switch

There were still a bunch of new-in-box ones in the $900-$1000 range on Ebay yesterday.

Thanks. . . I grabbed one with But-It-Now for $929. . . and the seller has 49 left and excellent feedback. If anyone else is interested here is the link or just do an eBay search for 2405FPW.

Good prices, even though he's asking $75 for the shipping. I just got mine from Dell and love it. I got in on the $999 price with free shipping.
