What I am about to ask you to do could make your situation go from bad to worse. By proceeding, you understand that I am not liable or responsible if something goes wrong.

1. Go to /Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities/
2. Launch Terminal.
3. Paste the command in the next step below and press return.
4. cd /Library/Application\ Support/Avid/Audio
5. Next, paste the command below into Terminal and press return.
6. sudo chmod -v -R 777 Plug-Ins
7. You should be prompted for your password. The cursor in Terminal will NOT move while you type your password. This is normal and expected behavior.

You just changed the permissions on the directory containing the plug-ins (and the plug-ins themselves via the -R option) to Read & Write for all users. The -v option means verbose, and you should see a list of which files were subjected to the command you entered.

I tried it and this is what was in the window:

sudo: can't open /private/etc/sudoers: Permission denied
sudo: no valid sudoers sources found, quitting

I have all access for writing and reading for everyone (System, Admin and Everyone)

I did what you just said with Terminal and it comes back with this "No such file or directory"

Attempted to start PT11 again and got the same "error installing..."

After restart I get the same start issue. I will continue to monitor - I may just re-install OSX from scratch!!
