Default Used Carbon

I am planning to interfaces from my UAD Apollo to Carbon.
Currently I own and use an annual subscription of ProTools 2023.12 with the Apollo.
I am assuming if I purchase a used Carbon that my current subscription to PT will get me up and running with no issues?
It is my understanding the the seller of the Carbon is not able to transfer whatever PTools he was offered when he bought the unit.
I should request the owner to complete a hardware transfer - correct?
Thx

Technically speaking the PT License with Carbon should always stay with the Carbon, but this isn't always what happens, so just make sure you know what you are getting from the seller.

Yes, you should do a Transfer of Ownership with the seller so that you can have the Carbon added to your MyAvid account and get any updates etc.

And lastly... yes, your PT Sub will work with Carbon as long as it is Studio or Ultimate.

Thank you Mark, I have Pro Tools Studio. If the software is not transferred if I purchase this used Carbon, would you know which plugins I would not get vs. purchasing the whole package. Or are the same plugins available on my studio version

Hi mrgroovy - there bundled plugins that came exclusively with Carbon, but these are 3rd party plugins that possible the previous owner already used. If that's the case you won't be able to use or redeem it on your end anymore. I would suggest to check that part as well with the previous owner if you wish to get access to those plugins as well. Since those were from 3rd party manufacturer, we don't manage the transfer for those plugins
