Seems if you run a interface with software DSP monitoring (RME FF800, UC, etc...) you can track at any buffer setting you like with no effects on the live monitoring.

Bump. The fact that Avid has stayed out of this thread makes me think they are not going to fix this. I figure it will take a new driver update which doesn't seem to be a priority on the Windows side of things.

If you haven't done so yet, please vote for this in IdeaScale:

I just hooked an M-Audio Fast-Track Ultra up to my system and no quick-punch glitch. Still a problem when using my Digi-003R on same system. Hey Avid, it's a driver issue. Please fix.

Yeah i made that too but with the cheapest fast track and PT wok really nice ...this is really stupid ...so PT runs
better with other brand cards than then ones that they build....stupid and need it to be fixed .

we need a new driver

But using a Fast Track means going USB instead of firewire, right? Doesn't that mean your lowest H/WB is 128?

I know this is not the answer you guys are looking for, but you should upgrade your interfaces first.

I've seen this issue a lot with guys working on 002 and 003 interfaces. I used to have a 002r which I sold the first time I heard the difference in preamps with the 003r+. Then I got rid of my 003r+ more than one year ago when I started having a bug in PT 8.4 that placed any recording early in the timeline. I then bought an Eleven Rack which was NOT affected by that bug. Since then I've worked with Eleven Rack and lately with the new MBox Pro (which can record at 192Khz, has DSP and softclip features) and I haven't had a single recording issue with any of them. They are not affected by this "glitch" bug. Also, the preamps quality in both units are far superior to the ones in the 002 and 003, not to mention the converters. Just by monitoring you can tell the difference.

So, you guys can continue to wait for Avid to fix something that has been there for years now, or you can forget about that bug, upgrade your interfaces and safely upgrade to PT10.

HTH
