Default Will I lose any data?

If I reinstall PT what happens to my plugin presets, session templates, and data.

Won't launch after reinstalling OS.

Sorry for new thread, I'm desperate guys. It's gonna be a long night.

Thanks in advance

So far I have

1. Run prebinding script

2. Repaired disk permissions

And still the icon flashes, but PT won't launch.

I am tempted to delete preferences and reinstall, but I don't want to lose anything.

I'm not sure I would lose anything with a reinstall, just want to be certain.

Anyone know if I would?

I replied to your other thread and have copied it here:

Apple support suggested a reinstall of OS X.
What should I do....reinstall PT.

Did you do something called an "archive and install" with the apple disc?

If so, you will need to do a "clean uninstall" and reinstall of Pro Tools. Your Pro Tools installer disc or download should have the uninstaller.

It will leave 3rd party and any other Digidesign plug-ins you installed separately still installed however a "clean" uninstall will delete some of the plug-in settings in the Plug-in settings folder.
You can make a copy of the "plug-in Settings" folder from the following location:
(save your copy to the desktop or other safe place, you can do this to your plug-ins folder too, remember you can also look in these folders to make sure they contain the settings you created and are worried about)

Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-In Settings

As far as saved sessions, as long as your not saving them in a place you should NEVER save them such as the "Digidesign databases" or other auto-installed Pro Tools related folder then no, those should not be touched. (sessions should be saved on your dedicated audio drive) Also, you can never play it too safe.. You should always have sessions or really any important data backed up in at least 2 places.

Hope that helps.

Dude...Thank You!

Did the reinstall, Protools launched, and I didn't lose any presets.

Thanks man, "you saved me".

Take Care!
