PT Ultimate 2023.6 hd driver bug

Just an FYI, I'm seeing the exact same behavior with today's HD Driver 2023.9 - AAE Error -6001. Can't open Pro Tools. I again reverted back to HD Driver 2023.3 and it works flawlessly with PT 2023.9.

same here...

after re-installing HD Driver 2023.3 I´ve got the same error, then after uninstalling HD Driver by terminal command and re-installaing HD Driver 2023.3 again, it worked

definitely not only 5,1 and 10.14.. seeing it on Mac Pro 7,1 and macOS 12 Monterey.. works perfectly with 2023.03, but fails to load with 2023.06 and 2023.09

Hi Mark,

I am on a new M2 MacStudio with a Sonnet Echo III, HDX2, Avid OMNI, running Ventura 13.5, 64GB RAM.

I've so far installed:

PT Ultimate 2023.6 with 2023.6 HD Driver
PT Ultimate 2023.6 with 2023.3 HD Driver
PT Ultimate 2023.9 with 2023.9 HD Driver
PT Ultimate 2023.9 with 2023.3 HD Driver

In all of the above, I have installed the standalone driver; I have uninstalled the driver in terminal before installing a different version. I have been experiencing the same issue with all of the above combinations on launching PT. The launch had an issue at the audio engine stage, at which point I get the following errors in different orders:

"Unable to locate Avid Hardware. Make sure your hardware is connected and turned on. Click "OK" when the hardware is connected"

"Please select audio device (playback engine). You can change this anytime in the Playback Engine dialog (Setup menu > Playback Engine)"

"Pro tools is critically low on memory. Please save your session and re-launch Pro Tools. (AAE -9006)"

If I launch PT without my chassis connected to the computer I can launch it with aggregate I/O as my playback engine. If I quit and re-launch with my chassis and omni connected I can then open playback engine and see HDX as an option. When I select it the "Updating Playback Engine Settings" window opens and completes, but I've noticed that the Hybrid Engine information doesn't appear in the playback engine window. When I re-open the playback engine window it is back to aggregate I/O, I can still see HDX as an option in the dropdown menu, but each time I select it, I get the same result.

When I try to run Digital test I get "DSI error occurred: 3"

I opened a case with Avid last week, am waiting for a follow up after they suggested installing 2023.9 on Friday

"We were given a heads bu by our colleague regarding your update. Our apologies in the delay in getting back to you. Just to give you a heads up on our findings regarding the issue, we were able to identify that what was causing the bug with the HD Drivers was compatibility to the hardware of the computer itself.

According to this, MacPro 5,1 and older will no longer be able to update HD Drivers from 2023.3 onwards. Which I believe, you are on a MacPro 5,1 as well, based on the last System Report file we received from your system.

While you should still be able to use Pro Tools 2023.6 and HD Driver 2023.9. Moving forward, the HD Driver hardware wise is just no longer compatible with the MacPro 5,1 and lower moving forward.
