I´ve got a response from Avid Customer Care

Thanks for letting me know.

I'm at least glad to know that the 2023.3 HD Driver has worked for you. As previously mentioned we were looking into this and now it appears that our team has identified that this is a bug and has been logged on our end.

I'll keep you posted once more details become available. In the meantime, the known workaround is the downgrade of the HD Driver that we did.

Regards
King

I have had reports of problems with users both on HD Native PCIe and HDX Cards, all of them are running MacPros 2011 with Mojave, untested by Avid, so this might be the problem... Rolling back to 2023.3 sorted out the issue in all cases.

Hey All!

2023.6 HD Driver has been removed from MyAvid, the Download Center, and Avid Link it was causing -6001 errors on a small percentage of intel macs. The 2023.3 HD driver is fully compatible with Pro Tools 2023.6 so please us it until further notice.

We have been unable to reproduce this on any of our intel macs in-house. If possible, please open up a case and provide logs by running the following Terminal command after a reboot with the 23.6 HD Driver.

sudo log collect --output ~/Desktop/SystemLogs.logarchive

We will continue to investigate, but I wanted to let you all know that rolling back is 100% compatible while we continue to look into the root cause.

Thanks all!

Mark

Pro Tools HDX Card | Digi Test Failed - 6001 error [Case : 04644878]

This HDX card only arrived in Melbourne (Technical Workshops) Avid certified dealer on Tuesday 27 after being shipped from Sydney. It is in line to be tested. This case is NOT resolved.
To reiterate.
Pro Tools 2023.6 was running fine. Avid link suggested I download and install the 2023.6 Driver.
Upon restart and initiation when loading the Audio driver -6001 error occurred.
I rolled back to the previous driver and Pro Tools version that I downloaded from Avid.
The -6001 error continued.
I deleted preferences uninstalled and reinstalled the previous version and its respective driver that I downloaded from Avid. Still the -6001 error continued.
I checked hardware to find I had lost sync with my Sync HD and one of my 192 interfaces was missing.
I ran Digi test. The HDX card failed and when I checked the peripheral hardware, the digi test stated that one of the 192 firmware was missing.
I disconnected the 2 192`s and 96 I/O. Rebooted and retested the HDX card with Digitest. I failed again.
I notified Melbourne Technical Workshops spoke to Jeff at length, and the following day sent the card to them.
Since this occurred I have read multiple occurrences surrounding major issues with the 2023.6 HD driver and the fact that Avid has recalled this driver as it was causing issues with Intel machines and HD Native and HDX hardware.
The Protools User group on face book have had multiple reports
I am waiting for the report from Technical Workshops, which I will send to you.
I have lost 5 jobs so far due to this fiasco.
I am extremely disappointed in the lack of response from Avid.
I have been a Pro Tools user since Sound Tools and Audio Media and have owned every piece of hardware aside from the rebranded DAD (MTRX and control surfaces fro the Mackie Digidesign HUI onwards)
I have notified Nino from my other email, [email protected] and CC’d Technical Workshops so they are across our communication, as I am doing with this email.
If you bother to cross reference this email address you will see them.
Expect further communication from me.
Regards
Bill Rigby

Have also seen this error in a client's machine - Mac Studio M1 Ultra - initially running Monterey 12.6.2, updated from 22.12 to 23.6 and the -6001 dance began. Rolled back to 23.3 driver and and seemingly worked solidly for 24hrs. Back to the -6001 errors, and the Sync HD and MTRX Studio (via digilink) is constantly reported as being "used by another application", when none are open. PT 23.6 or 23.3 runs perfectly using DVS or internal or Thunderbolt, but when HDX is engaged it fails 100%. Tried rolling back to 22.12 HD driver, no change. Updated to 23.3 HD driver, still unusable using HDX/Hybrid. Running a new Sonnet 3 slot chassis via Thunderbolt. Solid as a rock since January running 22.12.

Updated to 12.6.7 Monterey, no worse, no better. Been uninstalling HD drivers before installing new (or old). Matters not whether running using Rosetta or not.

Client has only lost 2 days of work so far, but not getting better. Cannot wipe the drive and start again - over 3TB of VIs/plugs/apps would take a week.

An update would be good about now.

What conflict, if any, is there with me running Pro Tools 2023.6 with old 2023.3 HD Driver?

Current setup:

Mac Pro 5,1
1 HDX Card
No Chassis
Mac OSX 10.14.6
Pro Tools 2023.6
HD Driver 2023.3

Thank you!
Hi Conrad,

I've started a support case for you regarding the issue.

For whoever it may help....

Mac 5.1 Dual 3.46 Ghz 6 Core, 128 Gig Ram
Mojave 10.14.6
1 HDX Card
2 older Lynx Aurora 16's

Had all the same 2023.6 bugs as discussed however I could not get my system back to 2023.3 working satisfactory. Had an Avid tech remotely working on my computer for two hours and he finally got it running 2023.6 with the 2023.3 driver. One of my Lynx Aurora 16's had to have a firmware update and I'm still having some digital clock clicking with both interfaces connected to the HDX card. Using either interface by itself works fine, it's only when both are connected. This is probably a Lynx clocking issue but thus far have not been able to get them on the phone to sus it out.

I am having the same problem here. Does the 2023.6 HD driver automatically install with the latest version of Pro Tools? If so, how can I reinstall the HD 2023.3 driver over it?

The HD Driver is a separate installer located in the package. You have to run it separately. No auto installation.
Recent downloads of the 2023.6 Pro Tools installer ONLY come with the 2023.3 HD driver.
If you want to switch HD drivers, just run the installer of the one you want. It will replace whatever is there. You can get the HD Driver alone from your my.avid account if not from your "My Products" tab then from the Download Center (located under Pro Tools there.)

Or you can just redownload the Pro Tools 2023.6 installer package and you'll find the 2023.3 HD driver inside there too.
