Default Pro Tools quits unexpectedly

In the morning it worked just fine and when i got back, started pro tools, after initializing hardware (DSI) it says that "The application Pro Tools LE 7.3 quit unexpectedly" i have no clue whatsoever might be the problem as i did a clean uninstall.

I'm using iMac 20'' 2.16 core duo, 1 gb ram and 250 gb hdd on 7.200 with digi 002. oh yeah, my os x is 10.4.8

thanx

I had the same error message. I'll tell you what happened in my situtation.

I learned that when your imac falls asleep with PT running, PT will shut down as soon as it awakes. This can happen frequently if you have your autosleep settings set low. As you know, your mac has a default settting under Sys Pref>Hardware>Energy that automatically puts your imac to sleep when there's a few minutes of inactivity; this was designed to conserve the life of your screen. I think the PT documentation recommends shutting off your mac's auto sleep option altogether if I remember correctly. This will solve the issue, but then your mac will stay on indefinitely if you happen to leave it on and you don't want that, either. So what I do is set imy imac to automatically fall asleep after an hour of inactivity, and I try to remember not to leave PT inactive for an hour. This conserves the life of my screen and also allows me walk away for up to 60 minutes without having PT shut down. The point is: just remember to not leave PT up and running when you're not going to get back to it in less time than whatever you've got the energy saver set for.

Hope that helps.
