Default Fanless video card for i7

My i7 build will be in the control room. I noticed the recommended video cards in the i7 thread have fans. Is there a recommended fanless card or do I really need the fan due to heat issues?

I use a fanless video card in my I7 and haven't had any trouble with it. I really wanted a fanless card to cut down on noise.

So, what are the best fanless cards?

I'm curious too.

They're a little harder to find than cards with fans. Mine is listed in my signature though I noticed Newegg is not currently selling it. What I've been told is that for Pro Tools, you don't neccessarily want the best high-performance video card with tons of RAM as Windows allocates more RAM for the card which in turn leaves less RAM available for ProTools. 512MB was ther smallest amount of onboard RAM on a fanless video card I could find at Newegg when I built my I7 last year. 256MB would be even better it seems, but I haven't had any trouble with mine.

No problems with my MSI nVidia GeForce 7300LE 256 card...................Use the latest driver from the nVidia site instead of the MSI driver.

Yeah, I'm now well educated with regards to video cards with large amounts of RAM onboard, thanks to the brains here....

I'm "stuck" with one such card myself, however, it's become apparent that when PT fully supports Windows 7 64bit, this will no longer be the issue that it currently is.

Check my signature below, this card is a beauty and is passive cooling (no fan). This card was recommended to me on the i7 thread, cant remeber who but thanks!!!!

It is an ATI chipset with 512 MB DDR3. Heat sink is designed by Zalman, card itself manufatured by HIS.

It was fun removing it from its packing when it arrived, it felt like a really valuable object in my hands, kinda sorry I wasnt going to be seeing much of it inside my PC.

Great Card, noiseless, and no issues.
