Default Powerbook vs desktop

I am purchasing a powerbook. But I may go with a desktop. I am not sure.
Is it true I can't hear the mix with the computer alone?

What should I get on the computer....what should I NOT get on it?

More memory? more harddrive space? wireless email? (can I use the computer for word
processing and web browsing? or should I use the computer only for recording?)

All advice is good THANKS!

whatever you do, try to wait at least until monday, because there may be a new product announcement that will inform your decision.

With all due respect, you should spend some time researching online before you post extremely broad questions like this.

Both would work, either could do recording that you could hear using the machine alone, but not in the case of recording with Protools (in which case you need an external--Mbox, 001, etc.)

Yes, you can also use this machine for email, browsing, etc., but generally not recommended that you do this all at the same time.

Best of luck.

With all due respect, this thread is nearly a decade old, I think he's decided by now.

Oops! Confused my search results for recent posts.

Thought that Powerbook reference was a little odd!
